Hua Hin Nightlife & Entertainment

The entertainment and nightlife scene in Hua Hin is not the same as that to be found in Phuket or Pattaya. It tends to be more for families and although there are plenty of open bars to enjoy, there is more of an emphasis on eating out and culture than noisy nightlife.

Thai Traditional Art and Culture:
The Sasi Restaurant and theatre in Kaliab Bay offers the most complete display of various forms of Thai traditional dance and theatre. The restaurant is open air, with performances of Thai dance, martial arts dances, as well as the famous Khon masked dance. Shows start at 7pm daily, and cost 750 Baht per person inclusive of a Thai meal, but excluding drinks. There is a free pick up service from the clock tower in Hua Hin between 6 and 7pm.

Muay Thai Kick Boxing:
The first Thai to win a world kick boxing championships came from Hua Hin, and there is a statue to Poon Kingpeth in the town. To see the kick boxing fights, there are two venues holding twice weekly fights. These are at The Thai Boxing Garden on Poonsuk Rd, and the Grand Sports Arena, near the City Beach Hotel. There are 5 fights starting at 9pm and costs are from 250 baht to 350 Baht. Both venues can provide English speaking hosts to explain the rules and the various stages of the match.

Bars and pubs:
There are quite a few on Poonsuk Road, often managed by expatriate owners. There is an Irish bar in Hua Hin named The Shamrock and amongst other nationalities, bar owners come from European and Scandinavian countries. Most have pool tables, and big TV screens for those wanting to watch sports and some have darts. To a great extent these bars are the drinking haunts of expatriates who live and work in the area and are generally very hospitable. Food is available at most pub style bars, with Thai and western meals on the menus. Near the Hilton on Soi Bintabaht The J.Gene Pub has live music and around this area there is also a good collection of small bars and eateries. The Thai staff are as welcoming as ever in Hua Hin, with all the costs considerably lower than Bangkok. The Johnnie Walker bar is geared more towards sports and music and has fewer ’bar girls’ than most of the pubs in this area.

Eating out:
Hua Hin covers just about every national cuisine, with plenty of Thai/western restaurants. Chinese, Korean, Italian, French - Grills, noodles, burgers, fish, pizzas, Phad Thai or Papaya salad. You name it and you can get it in Hua Hin. . Being a coastal town and once a small fishing village, there is an abundance of fish and seafood restaurants - typically tiger prawns with black pepper or grilled red snapper will be available. Hotels have their own restaurants, organise outdoor barbeques and have themed evenings, but obviously eating here is at a higher cost than out in the local restaurants.

Cabaret:
The entertainment scene is less frantic and maybe less glitzy than the glamorous capital or many other Thai resorts, but there is a stage show held at The Blue Angel Cabaret for those who enjoy these special Thai shows.

Cinema & Entertainment Complex:
The Market Village has shopping, cinemas, bowling alleys and arcades games. The mall is located at Phetkasum Rd, about 2 km from the town centre. International films are generally in English with Thai sub titles, but some are dubbed into Thai.
