How to get to Hua Hin

Hua Hin is about 170 Kilometers from Bangkok, on the western coast of the southern part of Thailand. With its proximity to Route 4, the main road south, and a main railway line, there is a choice of transport to the town from the north and south, and in particular, Bangkok.

By Air:
The airport at Hua Hin is still being developed with regards to routes. Nok Air operate a service from Suvunarbhumi International Airport to Hua Hin three times a day. Fares vary but to book online: www.nokair.com. One advantage of Nok is that you can pay for and collect your ticket from a 7-11 store, if you do not have a credit card. The telephone booking service is 1318 or from outside Thailand +66 2 900 9955. They have English speaking operators who are very helpful.

Hua Hin SGA

It is also possible to fly into Hua Hin from Don Muang airport in Bangkok (not the new international airport for Bangkok) using a small company operating 12 seater Cessna Aircraft. This is almost like having your own charter aircraft and flies at a lower altitude to give passengers a good view en route

SGA ( Siam General Aviation) operate the service daily:
Departing Bangkok : 08.00, 11.30, 15.30, 18.30 hours
Departing Hua Hin: 09.30, 13.00, 16.30, 20.00 hours

Current price for a return flight is around 6,000 Baht including transfers to some hotels

From the early days of Hua Hin’s reputation as a quality resort, the rail link to Bangkok has been important. Monarchs would arrive for their summer retreat at the magnificent railway station, with its Royal Waiting Room. Nowadays passengers may not be treated to the same standard of service but it’s still a popular way to get to Hua Hin.

Thai National State Railways operate the service from Bangkok to Hua Hin from the main station in Bangkok . Journey time at its fastest is between 3 and 4 hours, with a one way fare of around 400 Baht for an air condition second class ticket.. The train leaving Bangkok at 08.05 will get you to Hua Hin at 11.11. This is also the main line south to Surat Thani (for Koh Samui), Hat Yai and onward to Butterworth in Malaysia

By Bus:
Another popular way to travel to Hua Hin is by one of the many buses leaving the Southern bus terminal in Bangkok. The blue and white air conditioned buses leave Bangkok every 40 minutes, right through the day with a journey time of 3 hours. Fares are in the region of 200 Baht.

By Car:
Route 4 is the main highway south for those looking to rent a car or make their own way by road. For overseas visitors all the major car rental companies have outlets in Thailand, especially at the Suvunarbhumi airport. Hertz, Avis, Budget are all there, as well as local company Thai Car Rent.

The other alternative is to arrange a direct chauffeur driven transfer straight to Hua Hin, which saves the worry of driving yourself. This service can be booked on line and vehicles range from saloon cars to 8 seater vans. Costs are generally about 3,000 Baht per vehicle, so for a group this is a cost effective way to be transferred to Hua Hin. The companies will meet flights, and the cost is all inclusive, apart from any toll fees. Allow around 120 Baht for this.
