Hua Hin Beach & Cha-Am Beach

Hua Hin has been a favorite holiday resort in Thailand for many years. Attracted by its cooling climate and peaceful atmosphere, the town is still very popular amongst Thai families who come to enjoy the outstanding beaches of this west coast gulf town. For those visitors looking for the highest quality in terms of hotels and clean beaches, this stretch of Thailand’s coastline takes some beating. It makes for an ideal family holiday. From Cha Am all the way down to the small coastal fishing villages around Pranburi, there is mile after mile (KM?) of glorious white sand

Many of the major hotels operators have beachside properties. What makes the beaches at Hua Hin special is the seemingly endless stretches of pure white sand, the blue seas and the cooling breezes from the Gulf. Nowhere else in Thailand can you find such a perfect mix of peace, quality accommodation and a relaxing time. With outstanding vistas across the Gulf of Siam, sitting out at an open air beachfront restaurant or bar is a wonderful way to finish off the day.

Hua Hin Beach:
Hua Hin beach is as close to the main part of town as you can get, with some of the big hotels right next to the sand. Here, it’s a narrower stretch of sand, but as with all the other beaches on this coastline, swimming is easy with warm shallow waters. Without getting overcrowded, it is a more popular beach because of its handy location.

Cha Am Beach:
Cha Am is north of Hua Hin and it boasts as having the longest white sand beach in Thailand. Weekends get very busy here with Bangkok residents coming away for a weekend break. It’s a good wide beach with all the facilities needed for a day by the sea. Loungers, umbrellas can all be rented here and there is a good variety of eating places along the beach. With many visitors heading further south to Hua Hin, Cha Am tends to be more of a Thai resort.

Khao Takiab:
Khao Takiab is one of the best known beaches in the region and is at the southern end of the main Hua Hin beach. Being quite close to the main part of town makes it especially convenient without being in the very centre of Hua Hin. It has plenty of beachside bars and restaurants to relax with a cool drink, and watch the day go by. Its also one of the best places to enjoy some of the water based activities, many of which are arranged by the hotels. The beach is wide and flat making it ideal for all sorts of games from volleyball to takraw.

Takiab Bay:
Takiab Bay is around the corner from the rocky headland known as Chopsticks Hill. The further you go south from Hua Hin, the quieter it becomes, and Takiab Bay is no exception. There are some fabulous hotel properties here, right on the beachfront, making it ideal for families who want a beach holiday close to their hotel. The beach is fringed with palms giving it a truly tropical feel. With views across the sea to the islands, this is a romantic spot enjoyed by all

Haad Sai Noi Beach:
This is a lovely little cove between Takiab Bay and Suan Son. Without the expanse of Takiab and Hua Hin, it is a small stretch of sand with rock outcrops at either end. Swimming is really good here compared with Hua Hin, with a sandy sea floor and not too many rocks in the water.

Suan Son and Khao Tao Pradipat:
Very relaxing, expansive white sand beaches and a quieter lifestyle all round. These are the places for those looking for tranquility - a getaway with just a few places to eat or drink. To get to Suan Son beach, you need to go through a control gate where there is a small fee - the beach is run by the Army Welfare Office so really it’s a private beach open to the public. The beach here is exceptionally clean and wide, but with fewer bars and restaurants. Although it is considered to be the kind of location favored by those looking for the quiet life, this area is still only a short distance from Hua Hin.

Naresuan Beach Pranburi:
Naresuan Beach Pranburi is the most southerly of the main beaches near Hua Hin and home to some of the most luxurious hotels and resorts in Thailand. The beach here is ideal for a relaxing all day in the sun. and the water ideal for swimming. Cooled by Gulf breezes, the resorts in this area offer tranquility and a quiet lifestyle, but will provide transport to the main town if required.

Khao Kalok:
35 km south of Hua Hin is Khao Kalok, and here the beach is wide and clean. Weekends tend to be busy with local people coming to enjoy some seaside activities and relaxation. There are beachside restaurants with locally caught fish on the menu.

For those looking for a good quality beach holidays, Hua Hin and its gorgeous stretch of sandy coastline, is an ideal part of Thailand to visit.
